Window shopped a MTN this weekend

I stopped in to get a new pump and there is was. This (nearly) affordable Womens sized Mtn bike. It's the '04 Specialized Rock Hopper. I have a Giant Sedona now which is great around town, too heavy for road and not aggressive enough for mtn trails. Can you see a three bike garage in my future?

Does anyone have a Rock Hopper? Is it a good choice for a beg. and very casual Mtn biker?

I have a Specialized Rockhopper comp (not women's specific.) I got it about 3 1/2 years ago. It was my first "real" bike and I think it was a great choice. I don't ride it as much these days now that I have my new road bike, but its a great bike. I mostly ride it on fire roads, or hiking/biking trails through the mts. - nothing too crazy! But I would recommend it - I think its a great bike for the money.

That's a great bike for what you're looking for! If it fits properly, go for it! It's one level up from their beginner bikes (Hardrocks) so it should give you some room to "grow" as your skills increase.

    So, what color is it?

    Cheers,
    Kristina

October?!? That's torture! When is your birthday? Hopefully, at the beginning of the month

Well, Robin's egg blue isn't too bad. It could be worse

My mountain bike is a Rock Hopper. I've had it since '94. It went years without any use. But I cleaned it up a few weeks ago and started doing the club's mountain bike ride. I think it's terrific. Some of the folks in the club tell me it's too heavy and that I really want suspension. Right now I'm only doing fire roads and only once a week, so I don't see a point to upgrading my mountain bike. I can hang with the medium group and that's good enough for me.

this thread brings up memories. My first mtb was a Giant Sedona, back when it was a mtb and not a comfort bike which it is now. It didnt'' have a shock so we put a pos RST on it, and I rode that bike into the ground. I think I got it about 96 or 97? Now, I am about to rebuild parts of it ( new shock, shifters and so on) for my son. You can't kill that frame. There are was to tweak the set up a bit so it's not so recrational.

The Rock Hopper is a classic name in mt biking, sort of like the Ford Mustang. I've never ridden a Specialized but a zillion people love theirs, so it must be sweet.
There are hot pink accessories galore- and you can always go to Michaels 7th circle of hell craft store for hot pink mylar butterfly stickers for it. I have pink red and gold Monarchs zooming all over my frames this summer.
Mt bikes used to come in all sorts of fantastic Grateful Dead concert paint schemes- what happened?
