Shopping question for Grog (or other Canadians)

Are you aware of a good online *Canadian* cycling shopping website? (I'm thinking mostly clothes and accessories.) It's such a pain to figure out Can. vs US money, shipping etc. I'd like to shop online and know exactly what it's going to cost and how long it'll take to get here...

    Thanks,
    barb

Well mec.ca has a pretty good selection but it's not a cycling store.

I don't know of anything really big (like TE, Performance, etc.) online in Canadian dollars. I have been aware of a few shops that had a catalogue online but it didn't amount to much.

Right now Cdn$ and US$ are much closer than they were. Shipping remains an issue though, but with TE (the only cycling store I have ordered from online) it has always been a zip. Just get ready to pay for GST & PST when your package arrives... They don't always charge it, but they often do. (Sometimes with an added $5 handling fee, sometimes not...)

Sorry not to be more helpful...

    me tooo

    Hey barb,

I too would venture off to MEC if i were in Canada....No offence to TE however i don't want the exchange rate mess and extra taxes.
I just had a friend from Perth visit Canada and the first thing she had to do was visit MEC(True Canadian there....)...and i spent hours & hours trying to decide on what to tell her to purchase for me whilst there!!!

Umm, i'd do the same if you were in aust/nz asking this q...as i'm put off from purchasing things from overseas because of the exchange rate btwn aus/us, shipping costs etc etc...

I checked out the MEC site and saw some good stuff. Maybe I'll visit the actualy store next time I'm in Vancouver. We have some fairly decent bike shops in town too but I kinda like shopping online sometimes too. Going to Frash Air Experience today to look at bike gloves and lightweight windbreaker/rain jackets... I'm also wondering if I can find some easy, temporary clip-on fenders. Do they make such a thing?

There are several types of no-hardware fenders made, by this company http://www.planetbike.com/fenders.html and others - but Planet Bike are by far the least expensive I've seen. The clip on type that don't wrap around the wheel won't keep you as dry and definitely won't shield anyone riding behind you, the speed-ez style will do a better job, but are a little harder to install -don't believe that seconds to install stuff - maybe 1/2 hour to an hour, but I think once you have them fitted they will probaby go on and off easier.

I don't, but I've been eyeing the Flux pack for ever. It's so nice. A friend of mine had it and I carried it a bit while hiking, it's great. Eventually I will succomb and get one for myself!!
