Hi all! Just started back riding after a few year's break. Currently ride a mountain bike but because I've had too many crashes alone in the hills-- stupid I know-- have decided to stick to the road.

Had a couple good warm up rides last week and rode a nice 20 miles Saturday in Cambria, CA up a canyon road and back with my husband.

Clipped in at the hotel parking lot and stopped to adjust my chamois and forgot I was clipped-- fell over and have a HUGE bruise on my butt (I let my butt hit first rather than break a wrist). But I was mostly worried about whether or not I put a hole in my new capris...and whether or not anyone saw me. Horror!

I enjoy reading the posts and will come here for encouragement. You all seem like a nice bunch a gals.

    Very nice bunch indeed.
And somewhere we have our very own "most embarrassing moment" thread. Lots of clipping accidents. You are not alone!

p.s. Love your avatar! Also like one of the poster revisions of the original, "A woman's place is in her union". For this forum, tho, the best version is "A woman's place is on her bike".
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

    Osos girl:

Yeah Brandi, we drove through Los Osos on our way home. Noticed the CA bike route runs through there. We stay at San Simeon Pines. We've stayed at the Lodge-- but our room was only 98 bucks. Hard bed...harder parking lot!
We wanted to ride up the coast but the SIDEwinds were so strong they forced us into a right turn on San Simeon Creek. What a beautiful ride, finally had to turn around when I couldn't do one more climb. Short steep little grunts that I spun some, ground some. Whipped my hubbies _ _ _ but he's gonna get back at me. Unfortunately the down hill was then combined w/ that headwind. A good workout! And then dinner at Robins. Yum!
