A local cyclist was killed yesterday.

    From the Deseret News:

"One of the bicyclists leading the pack came to a stop, but some of the others near the rear did not notice. . . That caused the victim to collide with another cyclist. That crash pushed the man into oncoming traffic, where he was hit. . ."

Very sad. My prayers go out to his family.

The gentleman that got killed worked for Bell. This from Velonews.

I read somewhere that crud in/on the roadway (gravel, mostly) contributed to this accident. Having ridden in the same area where this group was riding, I can vouch for the scariness of the road conditions. Hopefully the sweepers will come through before cycling season goes full-on (and hopefully we're out of the time period where the road crews need to put sand/gravel on the roads). Very sad!
