Too funny, I used to live in Herndon, right off Frying Pan Rd! Now I'm in Leesburg. Are you looking for riding buddies? My local shop is going to start doing the weekend rides (various levels) in April. Its in Leesburg, but not far from you (I commute form Leesburg to Herndon every day to work).

Do you ride the W&OD in? You are SO LUCKY you can commute by bike. I live in N. Arlington and can't commute because there's no safe route (I work in McLean--five miles from my house). Luckily, I heard that they are going to extend the Mt. Vernon Trail so it goes up along the Potomac and join up with some "bike lane" roads & neighborhood type paved trails, etc. I might eventually be able to ride in, so long as there is there is a paved trail or bike lane option that bypasses Chain Bridge Road!Originally Posted by juvel01

I can currently bike at 14mph but looking for someone to challenge me a bit![]()
anyone in the area can email me at ellen@amcgltd.com
I also have AIM, my name is amcgltd
I wish!!! I actually live up 15 on the very north side of Leesburg in Lucketts so I have to drive into Leesburg to catch the trail into town. My biggest issue is that my office has instituted a "no bikes in your office" policy and I'm not in the best of neighborhoods so I may not be able to ride in.Originally Posted by mickchick
The shop where my husband works is in Leesburg on Market Street behind the Chevy Chase Bank and Wendys. They start weekend group rides in April (in fact, we were discussing it yesterday). They usually do 2 or 3 groups, 14 mph, 16 mph and the race group who just FLY. They are thinking of doing a Womens Group, which could be fun. They are 1 block from the WO&D and we would ride out from the shop to Purcellville and ride back or we could ride the back roads through Waterford, which is gorgeous, but hilly and can be a bit challenging. Anyway, when they start, I'll post when they get going.
In the meantime, Id love to find a couple people to ride with, I'm new at the road bike thing so I'm probly in the 14mph group as well! Sounds like Ellen is available on weekends, anyone else out there? There is a fairly good size parking lot along the trail right off Rt 28 (just south of the Ferrari dealer), maybe we could all meet there?
