    hey C,

I actually enquired about going to Melbourne for the games, but it was so expensive. We only wanted to go for one of the weekends, but most hotels were minimum 4 night stays!!

I'm going to try and watch as much of the cycling as possible.

I'm not sure what the press is like in WA, but over here, they're sort of rubbishing it. Which is a bit harsh....

Anyway ,like you am really looking forward to it on TV!!!

    the games

    Hey there,

All i've noticed on the news is the organizers just about panicking over the number of tickets not sold & the fact they sent letters to deceased people telling them about the games!!! OOPS...talk about not having thier **** together!

Also, i'm a bit annoyed at grant hackett not participating in the games because of a sponsorship row.

The Australian press won't leave Jana pittman alone either! Did you see the cover of Ralph? It says "thát's ok Tamsin, we don't like Jana pittman either"

    Sometimes i wonder....

    Hey all,

I think this row between Tamsin and Jana is so ridiculous, and so obviously a media beat up. What's the big deal?

Also when Thorpey withdrew because he had a virus, it was reported like a death in the family!!!

And the controversy about whether they were going to play "God save the Queen", another Big Deal question!! I couldn't care less if they decided to play it or not. It's the Commonwealth Games! Surely we're mature enough for us to know it's not the national anthem, and a tribute to the head of the Commonwealth? After all she is 80 this year..

It's been a slow news week.... *sigh*

    AE...

It's been a slow news week for sure.

I'm sick of the media revolving around Ian thorpe & grant hackett. Sure they're great swimmers but what about the others on the team...last time i checked there were a few more...

I have to agree, especially since its the GIRLS that are kicking *** in the pool! Though must say that in this month's Womens Weekly, there's a nice glamour spread on all the female swimmers on the team, like Jodie Henry, and all.

It's not taht I don't like Thorpie or Hackett... I agree, all in all, they're good role models to the little kiddies taking up swimming.

But I want to hear news about the Cyclists!!! I imagine the aussies will be sporting a very competitive team eg Oenone Wood etc...

I just want to watch the cycling! I'm sure the Aussie's will do well in track and road, but in the mountain biking I think they are going to get smashed by the Canadians and the Kiwis.

Well, after watching the Aussies get beaten by the SAfricans last night in the cricket, by one wicket on the second last ball, and posting a record 434, I almost don't care who beats in the MTB! (no offense to the S.Africans who might be reading this )

Anyway, credit goes to the SAfricans...

I must say I don't know much about the MTB teams. Mellic, is this in both womens and mens, that the kiwis and Canadians are strong?

Cycling for sure... interested in any and all elements of that...

But the netball - that should be VERY interesting - the Oz/NZ game - always interesting when those two teams get on a court together - can't wait!

    Hey ladies,

Have you watched much of the coverage so far????

I watched the swimming yesterday..I'm still amazed on how fast they breathe...they don't really look like they're breathing either...

This morning in between bouts of feeling yucky i watched the Men's triathlon. I managed to get through the swimming & cycling leg before having to turn the tv off as noise wasn't helping my headache & nausea....

Í had to laugh at the lawn bowls coverage...How many folks over 65yrs were up watching that

Would you Aussie's stop thrashing everyone - it's just not fair!

Torn now between supporting the English/Scottish/Welsh - and the Kiwis!
But I get four teams to cheer on - yay!

Loved watching the Kieren last night - and the track cycling today.
One of the NZ track cyclists, Jason Grace, owns a bike shop around the corner from me http://www.calibrecycles.com/.
Such a shame he missed out on a medal - I was yelling from the couch, but sadly he couldn't hear me!

OK, the Aussies are doing well. But what about the 7s and Moss Burmester in the pool, not too shabby for the Kiwis?! Did you like the haka at poolside? That was cool.

I really enjoyed watching the triathlons yesterday. I was very surprised to learn that the Aussies and Kiwis dominate this sport. I just want to know do they have chamois in their swimmers? It could get a bit uncomfy 'down there' after 40kays on the road....

whoa... the mens and womens triathalons... and the indoor track cycling - I'd never heard of a kieran before (have I spelled that right?

Oh... *falls in heap to ground in despair* ... why cant we have cycling like this ALL the time on telly?

Picks self up in a rush and races to remote...

Better make the most of it, huh?
