    Hosting a Bike Ride

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Every fall my town hosts a fall festival that runs 2 consecutive weekends. We are discussing the possibility of running a "tour of our town". This will not be a race but a 20 mile ride with stops at fun areas through out our town for refreshments or rest stops. We plan to have more than 50 riders. Is there any publication out there that gives good detail on what is needed to host a successful ride or has anyone been the one responsible for setting one up?

The wonderful ladies here on TE gave me this contact--Bicycle Ride Directors Assoc. of America. brdaa.org or .com They have info there that could be of interest to you.

Other than that, you just have to jump in there and set up routes, get the word out--brochures and internet, get volunteers, assign duties, set up SAG stops and SAG vehicles. It's a committment, but it's fun. See my post on Don't Miss This Ride under charity rides....

    Thumbs up

Aint Doody-Thanks for the website suggestion. It seems to have everything I am looking for-insurance info and even a book for sale that covers all topics.

I checked out your century website and it looks great-unfortunately we live on the East coast and won't be out your way this spring.
