Competitive Cyclist -- do I have reason to be concerned?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

So a couple of weeks ago I ordered a pair of men's Lake shoes that are way big (size 40, since ordered 39.5, but suspect those will be too big, as well, and I'll need a 39. Pretty much all other shoes I own are 40, so hrmmm...) from Competitive Cyclist via Amazon.com.

I contacted CC directly for return authorization late last week. Was surprised to not receive response in 24 hours, as Backcountry.com (CC's actual parent retailer) is usually VERY prompt with any sort of customer service queries. So I decided to go through the usual Amazon.com return channels.

Immediately after starting the online return process on Amazon I receive this email:
We are sorry to let you know that your email(s) below cannot be delivered. The recipients have decided to leave the Amazon.com platform or are not eligible to receive any further email communications.

Um...what?! They still have an Amazon.com storefront. And I still have not heard from CC. It looks like I can open some sort of claim with Amazon.com if I hear nothing from CC in 3 days, but what a PITA. I am now sitting on a $$ pair of shoes and have another pair on order (from another vendor, fortunately). This is getting $$.

This is certainly making me none too eager to ever again order anything from CC or Backcountry.com.

I may end up doing just that once we're back from our JDRF ride this weekend if I don't hear anything else (or see what I can accomplish via Amazon, since they should be going to bat for a customer left in the lurch, given I purchased via them). It all comes as such a surprise, given what a good reputation CC has always had.

I usually order directly from them and have no problems. The one time I ordered through Amazon, the answer took forever to arrive. Send them an email directly with your information. My experience has been good with them except for the delayed response when I ordered through Amazon.

We've gotten a LOT of stuff from them over the years (framesets, gruppos, gear - literally thousands of dollars worth of "stuff") and have had no problems at all. Call them directly.

That's the thing that's odd. I contacted them directly late last week and didn't hear anything in 24+ hours, so that's when I decided to go through Amazon. I think I need to call and talk to a real person.

If I remember correctly, the sequence for me was: contact them through amazon... no response. Contact them directly, no response for a couple of days. Then I received a response through amazon.

If you ordered from Amazon just log onto your account and under orders there's an option for returns. Just follow the the instructions. It's pretty simple. I've had to do it a couple times.

Go back and re-read my OP...BTDT. That's when I was notified that CC is not accepting e-mails from Amazon, in spite of the fact that they still have a storefront. And they've still yet to reply to my direct message to them 5-6 days ago.

I finally was. They claimed they'd replied, but I looked through the junk/spam folders and did a search and couldn't find a message. So perhaps it got lost in transmission. Now I'm waiting for a pair of 39s from the UK, since finding the orange ones anywhere in the US was proving futile. I could find the women's in that size, but they'd be too narrow. Amazing the hurdles us duck-footed folks have to go through to find shoes!

Glad to read it was addressed! [ unrelated: I hope to see your new cross bike completed soon.]

There's at least one Ti bike thread floating around here with photos...lemme see if I can find it.

There are several photos here. So far I am in LOVE! Not at all fond of the toe overlap, but I get that with my existing road bike and old CX bike, too...it's just even more of an issue with this bike.

Gorgeous. I think I'd die if I had toe overlap on the cross bike.
