Yeah, if I fell while going about 70 kph, as he did, it would probably be a month before I got back on the bike. And there's no way I'd ride with my butt hanging out.

OUCH. I must say, road rash is scarier than anything that's happened to me on MTB. But then I'm pretty timid off-road: my collarbone is intact.
Is he still riding? I wonder how much you can be hurt and still win or place high. I'd be out for the count, for sure.

he said his body hurt pretty bad the next day, he wasn't feeling well and is taking antibiotics. he is looking forward to a little rest with his family and more training for "The Race." on that note, better watch out for Levi Leipheimer, word on the street says he could give lance a run for his money. i also read that Tyler Hamilton is now very focused on the tour. hmmmmmm..........
