    Freak Accident...

    with the kitchen soap dispenser.

Thom and I were on opposite sides of our kitchen counter when he accidentally knocked the dish soap dispenser into the sink. It landed on its head causing it to pump once at just the right trajectory to land in my left eye! Kitchen soap is caustic stuff! And I'm still recovering from a chest cold. My mother always said that bad things come in threes, I can't help but wonder what's next.

Flush it with eye wash from our first aid kit - a sterile, ph balanced solution. And a lovely eye patch made from a 4 by 4 bandage and tape. I'll lose the eye patch so I can drive to work today.

It's pretty ugly. The eyelids are all swollen and of course the eye itself is bloodshot. Dish soap is nasty and it entered at a high rate of speed. It made me glad we had taken all sorts of first aid classes and we have a really well stocked first aid kit.

I hope you are feeling better; I can slightly sympathize after once wiping my hand across my eye, not realizing there was dish soap on it.
Had to throw away that contact lens immediately .
I also hope your kids were sympathetic.

My class has been great. I could hardly talk on Thursday and Friday and went home sick on Friday. I just didn't want to stick a sub in and give them busywork the last full days of school. I had a lot of academic games planned and they had presentations to give.

We only have 3 days this week and they are all half days. We are doing fun things everyday, that they had to earn the privilege of doing, by being well behaved and doing their homework. Today was Movie Day - we watched Wreck It Ralph - fun movie and with a good message.

Funny, none of them asked me about my eye and it was the first time I had ever worn my glasses in front of them.

The eye lids are still very swollen and the eye is still really red, but it no longer stings. My tears are actually kind of irritating to it, the salt I guess.

I just want to be healthy again.

Thanks for asking! It's slowly getting better. I hate not being able to wear my contacts!

Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
