So sorry you're lonely. I feel for ya. Surrounded by a bunch of riders but can't find the right ones to ride with...I'm kind of in the same boat (I'm new to SLC from NorCal). For me it's much more motivating to ride with folks (rather than alone).

Whenever I go visit my folks in Halcyon/AG, I ride out the canyons to SLO. I always see tons of people riding. I never really ride out LO way cuz of the wind and it requires me to get in the car (from my folks' place). Check some of the shops' bulletin boards in SLO. I'll bet they have a women's cycling group there. Have you ridden with the SLOBC, aka the "SLOBs"?

SadieKate and I will be in the area in March, but will be focused on the Solvang Century. Have you checked out that ride? It's a huge crowd but fun. They have a half century and a full. Here's where we previously discussed it: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=4905

    Brandi:

You have one of the best California Cycling Clubs near by - go to SLOBC.org and check out the website. They have all levels of rides - including the SLO pokes. Great way to meet other cyclists and get to know the area. All the SLOBC people I've met are the coolest. Also they put on some great rides (Lighthouse Century and Wildflower). Would be great to get involved helping out and organizing. Also get out and do some rides. I was in SLO this past weekend and did some rides down PCH and met alot of cyclists out and about. Do the Bob Jones Trail and ride out to Avila Beach. Or ride up PCH - always alot of riders out there to meet. Also check out some of local bikes shops. They may have information of some riding groups.

thanks! I am kinda a strange rider. My bike is not a road bike not a mountain bike. Do road bikers want someone like me?

I think you will find a home with the SLO Pokes. They are a bunch of strange riders themselves!!!

Actually in most road clubs that are considered to be "recreational" (stay away from "racing" groups) alot of different bikes are ridden. I would go to their website and let them know you are interested in riding with them and ask the question. It's not so much the bike as the speed. I think the 'Pokes ride between 10 - 14 mph (it should be listed on the website)http://www.slobc.org. If you can do that on your bike, then you are good to go.
