Avatars how to

That groovy pic below my name is an avatar. If you go to your member CP the option to upload an avatar is at the bottom of the page. I have no idea if you have to have certain number of posts or not. There's a limit to the file size, it's pretty tiny.

So when do we get attachments?

I can't get my pictures any smaller!!!! will keep trying though, the avatar says alot!!!

here's how to re-size by pixels.... at least in the editors I use.(photoshop) You should have some sort of image>resize/size function, Look for the option to resize, you may have the the choice of pixels or inches. Set the size to the pixels you want, that should do the trick. 50x50 is a pretty tiny file, be careful what you choose so that it will be visible without a magnifying glass.

Yes, avatars are now enabled, and I've just bumped up the max size to 100x100 pixels. Total file size must be under 10K. Please try to keep it under 5K so the forums continue to load quickly for people with dial-up access.

You need 10 posts before you can have an avatar. Think of it as a reward for contributing to the forums

well, I'v been playing around with finding an avatar--good way to kill time at work I'm sure I'll find one that suits me better, but just wanted to see if I could make it work for the time being...this is fun, thanks for the tip!!

i'm really confused (not hard for me). where do you get the avaters? are they custom from another website that you download, or are their choices somewhere? it is not giving me a prompt to browse choices.

you create or find your own. I forget where I got mine, found an image somewhere.
the prompt means that you get it out of a file on your HD, but you have to find one to put in there.
