Good grief.... at least they charged him with assault with a deadly weapon, rather than with a traffic related offense, as they generally carry less penalty...

Wow. Just wow. I do not understand why people with suspended licenses do not get their vehicles impounded. And, if caught driving with a suspended license, the consequences should be major. An Italian restaurateur in my town was killed after her scooter was hit by someone driving with a suspended license. I can smell a senility defense on this one, with the 81 year old.

The road rage dentist driver in Beverly hill area who hunted down a bicyclist then hit him. He was also accused of doing similar thing in Palos Verdes area. both are favorite for local cyclists.

Then we have this Santa Rosa driver chasing a cyclist onto a golf green/cart trail and running him down.

Another I just heard was a cyclist in Iowa, where the driver of a van sped up, deliberately went onto a shoulder to mow down a cyclist. Cyclist was conscious and reported that the van then backed up stopped, the driver came out, picked up the crumpled bicycle, proceeded to throw at the cyclist on the ground. Then this morning I read in a paper that a scuffle broke out at a grocery store. A couple was shopping for grocery and the wife was trying to type in her PIN into the machine. The man behind was trying to see the PIN so the husband asked the man to step back. He refused so the husband stepped inbetween the man/assailant and his wife. The assailant pulled out a concealed gun. Struggle ensued and the husband was shot in the leg. Other patrons jumped the assailant. Assailant had a concealed weapons permit which was promptly revoked by Portland police and the assailant is under arrest for first degree assult.

Good grief!!! Can I emmigrate to safer place like Sweden/Finland/Denmark/Norway? I hear Helsinki/Tampare/Oslo/Stockholm/Copenhagen are all pretty nice. Okay so the order of countries and cities don't match.
