After nearly a year, I'm back

You probably don't remember me, but I was around last summer. New cyclist, working towards maybe someday doing a tri.

And then I injured my wrist.

Still don't know what I did - didn't do it biking or running. Possibly from weight lifting, but the doc could never quite figure out what was up. Either way, it was a lot of resting and brace wearing and I kind of left the bike behind.

But I've decided I didn't buy the bike for nothing. I want to ride! So I've taken the bike out on a few long rides. I'm just back in from a ten mile ride. It's clear that I need an adjustment (scheduled for next Friday) as my handlebars just feel too low. It's not comfortable. And I want to love the bike.

I'm running my first marathon in January (eek), but I've tentatively committed to my first sprint tri in June. I've found a place to swim, but for now, I'm going to work on the bike as cross-training.

And now I'm off to read newbie blogs and newbie books to figure out what the heck I'm doing.

Ha! SodaStream, yes, that would be me. Enjoying it? I still love mine.

Bike has been refitted! I love my bike shop. Handlebars are at a new angle, owner said I'd probably want them lowered again once I'm more comfy on the bike and he'd do it when I'm ready. Didn't charge me a dime.

And then it poured and I didn't get to ride (I'm so not ready for that yet).

    Welcome back.

Does your wrist still hurt? I knew what I did to my wrist but 2 cortisone shots didn't relieve the pain. Also rode and worked with a brace. After a year or so of pain I saw a hand specialist who said that I probably tore the ligaments but they are so tiny it's hard to get them to heal. Solution was surgery to clean up scar tissue. Recovery was pretty quick and no more pain.
