    Election results - defeat

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I put my all into running a textbook campaign and lost the election. It certainly feels much better to win than lose but I am at peace with the outcome.

It's God's will and I truly feel that the best is yet to come for me. I'm going to take some R&R and then I'll be off in pursuit of a new challenge.

Aw, sorry it didn't work out for you.

Rest and chill is a good idea. Maybe there'll be a next time. And if not, I'm sure it was a valuable experience anyhow.

That's so cool that you were running for office. I hope you stay involved with the process. I'm not interested in running for office but I'm getting interested in the process.

Thanks go out to the great women supporters at TE, as a side note this was a re-election campaign. I already have been serving for nearly 4 years.

I'm so sorry, D. You couldn't have done more though, and you've been an active effective woman in democracy and local government which is truly commendable. Take some time out for you, heal up after your injury, and enjoy having a bit more time to yourself for a while. Well done on your four years.

    Sorry to be so long getting back on this...a textbook campaign is one in where you do everything "by the book." In this case the classic grassroots campagin tactics are to;

Send out targeted mailings (example, you mail to registered voters, absentee voters, qualified voters and especially voters in your party). What qualifies a voter? Well if you have access to party data you can set criteria to create your list from the data base. Example, someone who has voted in the last 3 out of 4 elections would be considered a highly likely voter. Targeted mailing conserves funds and uses them wisely versus blanket mailing that is not likely to reach your target audience. It costs you doubly so because you must not only pay for more postage that way but you must produce more printed pieces.

Ensure your mailing to absentee voters arrives in the same week as their ballots do. You need to pay attention to when they are sent out. Absentee voters are another of those "highly likely voters."

Go door to door canvassing and introducing yourself.

Ensure that the material you produce is professional and high quality.

Go out and be seen at events in the community.

Generally speaking if you follow the above criteria you are nearly guaranteed a win, however as you can see that is not a 100% guarantee, especially if there are mitigating circumstances as in this case, however that is too long to go into and not the appropriate place in this forum.

    Just saying....cause you asked...

But you sound like an interesting, intelligent person with a lot going on. I so don't 'feel sorry' for you.
Thank you Murienn, I don't "feel sorry" for myself either. Winning is far more fun, but I am ok with the outcome...I did my best and that's all I can ask for.

As with everything else I have ever done in my life, I feel that this was in preperation for the next thing.

Cool! I should be a "target" soon. I've voted in every election, but we only moved here 2 years ago. And we weren't in city limits the first year.
