    Stress: Running vs Beer

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Had a very stressful day at work last week. My usual fix is to grab a glass of wine or beer and take a long soak in the bubble bath when I get home. Makes me feel worlds better.

So instead of the "usual" fix, I decided to go for a run instead. Now granted, it was the dreadmill as it was later at night, but the feeling after the run was incredible. I got out all of my pent up frustrations, listened to some good tunes, and made my body healthier in the process.

Now if only I can retrain my brain to not go for the quick (lazy) fix.

I don't see why this must be an either/or proposition...nothing like a shower beer after a sweaty workout!

I misread the thread title as Stress: Running vs Bear.

For me, it definitely depends on the quality of the run. If I'm too stressed, running gets much more difficult and then I just feel worse. Then it takes more than one beer to recover

After a 52 km. of cycling today in Banff (Rockies) area today, I had an ice cold glass of white Chardonnay wine. Temp. was 28 degrees C but mountain air was dry. Then shortly, sucked down 4 glasses of ice cold water and 2 c. of coffee over next 4 hrs. Water here is fed off the glaciers before it runs downstream to feed another city 120 km. south, etc.

Dehydrated but refreshed. With great mountains looming all around us. Looking over green turquoise glacier fed river and lake.

I think if there's a bear involved, running would be part of that scene

I'm finishing a shower beer even as I type this--rode a century, today...a VERY hilly, VERY VERY VERY windy century. I'm apparently in better shape than I thought, since it didn't kill me (though I was kinda wishing I were dead by about 80 miles in).
