    Fueling for a fine day of bike riding...

    I'm not a fan of oatmeal, but if I was, I would try adding an egg to it. And maple syrup.

    A raw egg mixed into the oatmeal?

    Banishing any thoughts of possible salmonella from my mind, that just sounds ICKY.

    I assume the egg cooks with the oatmeal, possibly similar to the way an egg cooks when you add it to spaghetti carbonara. He said it was custardy.

    That could work, then. I'd want to make sure that oatmeal was reallllly hot, though. I am really squeamish about raw eggs.
