    road trip & sunburn

    Hello ladies!

Sitting here at home in perth nursing a bad sunburn (Reminder to self when swimming at 1030am-put sunscreen everywhere, not jut certain areas...duh!!! I missed part of the slip, slop, slap message...)

Our trip to & from melbourne was wonderful. We took tons of photos and will post a few here when i get a moment.
We didn't run into any roos or wombats..phew...Just counted thousands of dead ones...
Smelt smoke one evening driving only to realize it was the small burnoff or bush fire up the road...
Couldn't sleep in Ceduna (i'll have to post a pic of our trek so you understand all the place names...) with 60% humidity and it didn't get below 30c...

Had 47c temps on our way to Melbourne. (trek-accross the nullarboor) On our way back...diff story...we had rain from Adelaide to Kalgoorlie and 18c temps...We were beginning to wonder if our friend from Auckland would ever see the sun...

Upon our return along the nullarboor it had rained so much that the Indian Pacific(train) was washed out, stranding about 100 folks...also one place had 11inches of rain in one day..more than they usually receive in one year.!!!

Now all i have to do this year is bike half of the 7300km's we drove ...(with my new odometer...)

Hey CC - pleased to hear you had a good holiday and a safe one.

When I was little girl we use to drive across the Nullarbor every year to visit family in Sydney and Northern NSW. It was pretty rugged back then and you would only see a couple of cars each day and everyone would wave furiously happy to see another soul on the long lonely track. If you ever get the chance to cross between May and October you must stop off at the Bight and see all the whales its an amazing sight and you have a great view from the cliff tops.

Hope you have a Happy New Year with plenty of great summer riding.

Sounds like you had an exciting trip, I look forward to the pics.

I wish I could get a sunburn....we're had the worst weather here in MI. 15 days and a total of 14 minutes of sun....depressing!

Thanks for telling us about it. You Aussies have the most amazing country over there. I heard on the radio today that it's the driest continent of all. Such wild beauty.

Enjoy the heat--and tell us about it over in the frozen North! Lise

So, do you need any visitors from the chilly States?
