Hello - I am new to the forum, so apologize if I am not posting this correctly! I am looking for recommendations for a two day bike ride (paved) that would begin near Atlanta Georgia and be about 35-50 miles each way (with an overnight at a B and B in between). I will be visiting Atlanta (early March)and want to extend my stay a few days, rent a road bike and take a short trip.
Any help that anyone can lend in recommendations, web sites, places to get maps, routes, bike rentals, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated! I am from the North, so want to take advantage of an early spring ride and also would love to see scenic Georgia. Flat is good - am a slow, steady cycler that has VOWED to put a few fun cycling trips into 2006!![]()

The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

There are some cites to check out for Atlanta rides -
check out www.active.com and search for rides in GA.
http://www.bikesbl.org/ has a good calendar of GA rides
www.atlbike.org also has a calendar of GA rides
You might want to think about trying the Silver Comet trail. The Silver Comet Depot rents cruiser/hybrid type bikes, and you can head out for a 37 miles on a bike trail - probably the only really flat riding around Atlanta. You might find a hotel in Rockmart, the small town at the current end of the trail. It goes to the main road there for about 10 miles, then picks back up in Cedartown and continues to Alabama. I think the website www.trailexpress.com might help you out with logistics, or ask the folks at the Depot.
Thanks for all your help - am off to ride the Silver Comet Trail!![]()

Be sure to let us know when you're riding it - you might have some company!
Did you get in touch with the guys at the Silver Comet Depot? They're very nice and could probably give suggestions on places in Rockmart. Oh! If you do stay in Rockmart, you absolutely MUST eat at Frankies. It's a little Italian place run by a great lady - and I think (don't quote me on this one) it's housed in what used to be the other location of the Depot bike shop. She (Frankie) has a mural on the wall of the Silver Comet trail, and she'll insist you sign it.
