I've heard really good things about these products - sold right here on TE. After having my hair turn green from chlorine as a kid, I really should pay more attention than I do!

I have a 9 year old daughter who swims 4 days a week. She has very fine hair.
She is currently using baby shampoo.
I'm not sure if she really needs to wash her hair every time she swims but I'm concerned about the buildup of chlorine in her hair if she doesn't wash it out.
Getting her to rinse the hair products out is an issue we are working on that.
Thanks.

My daughters both swim and I have them wash their hair every day they swim. When they get in the car after swim practice the entire car smells like chlorine so I want it off of them. I have heard two ways to help prevent chlorine build up in hair. The first is wet hair completely before putting on swim cap so less chlorinated water drenches hair and the second put leave in hair conditioner in hair before putting on cap. Also rinsing hair with vinegar gets rid of the green.
There's a new sign up at the one pool I go to, that tells how to avoid that chlorine smell. According to it, chlorine attaches to fragments of both hair/skin and soap, so they recommend:
1. washing well with soap before swimming, and rinsing off well
2. showering without soap (and shampoo I presume) afterwards.
I can't vouch for the chemistry, and I don't know if it helps against green hair, but I do know that I smell a lot less of chlorine once I started following these tips!

I don't have fine hair, it's course and curly, but my usual baking soda followed by vinegar gets the chlorine out without making my hair frizzy the way shampoo & conditioner does.

I used to use Ultra-Swim. Got rid of the chlorine smell too.
Too bad they don't make eye drops.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
Another vote for Tri-Swim.
Yet another vote for Tri-Swim. When I was swimming 5-6 days a week I used it. It really gets out the chlorine smell and feel. The conditioner made my hair feel great.
Ultra-Swim works for me.
I was swimming 5 days a week for a while and ended up with brassy, crunchy, hair from the chlorine (and I have dark hair).
Ultra Swim helped a lot.
Also, the tip about wetting your hair before you get in the pool is good. That helps. Hair is somewhat porous, so saturating it first with non-chlorinated water helps to keep the chlorine out.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to order th ultra swim. I'll have her wear a swim cap too.
