What's up with all the blue women's bikes?

No offense to those of you who like blue, but WTH? I don't need pink and purple or anything, but nearly all of the bikes with the specs I want have an identical white, black, and blue color scheme! (Except for the berry-and-white Trek Madone 5.2 WSD)

What gives with all the blue? I hate to be so hung up on color, but if you are spending this much $ on a bike, you should love the look, too, right?

    Ooh. That Cannondale is sharp.

It's fashion. Last year I seem to remember that there was more red running around. And since you're looking at higher-end frames and components, there will probably be more "unisex" color schemes. It seems like the further down you go in componentry level, the girlier the paint schemes become.

Eh, they need to sell bikes, so they're probably going for the color scheme that appeals (or at least, does not turn off) the largest cross-section of customers.

Face it, orange or purple frames can be striking, but not all that many people would want an orange or a purple frame. And I suppose red is sooo last year.

At least they're getting away from pink for women's frames (who knows, maybe they got nasty letters from the Komen foundation ... )

Also it's probably the "colour" picked by the International colour institue who chooses colours for each year. I think it's somethig to do with Pantone.

And yes it's non-offensive. I suspect the ball has swung the other way due to ladies saying "no pink bikes!".

Red, blue, white and black are also pretty easy colors to match. My bike is teal and white, and while she's gorgeous, she's hard to buy for.

That's why I like my unpainted Ti frame, it goes with everything. And I'm all about the color coordination.

Hey, I chose to have my custom ti bike painted blue. It's only the second blue bike I've owned (as an adult). It's sort of a royal blue.
My other road bike is the typical black, red, grey that seems to be so popular.
My first two road bikes were 1) screaming yellow and 2) ugly carbon grey.

The mountain bike I sold was the ugliest brown I've ever seen.

Every bike I've ever owned, from the age of 5 on, has been blue. Weird, isn't it? I'm not sure I could stay upright on a bike any other color...
