I really hate April Fools Day

So maybe I'm just whiney. Have u ever had someone play a really lame April Fools trick on you? I did this year. One of my friends told me she was pregnant and I took it seriously. It would normally be a pretty huge problem if she had been. I dunno maybe it's just me being a wimp but that was pushing the limits. Not only did she have me worried sick but then proceeded to post it on Facebook that I was 'most gullible'. So much fun being the laughing stock of everyone on FB.

This is a friend?? Seems like a pretty mean trick to me.

I'm not a fan either, I tend to simply believe what people tell me.

That seems kind of mean . . . not a fun April Fools at all

I dread the day as well. My 6yo dd, however, LOVES the day. She was constantly saying things like "mom! There's a spider on your back! Mom! Your car is on fire! Mom! Mom! Mom!" Geeeze kid, give it a break!

I had just come in from a long hard ride too so I wasnt really thinking strait yet. It was still pretty lame I thought. We had been talking about how tired we both were from school so she said that 'now I know why I've been so tired'. I just hate always being the gullible one ya know.

The option is to assume people are lying to you and to question what they say, that takes too much energy so I'll just stay gullible.

In a global world, plus now some really factually wrong information on the Internet, etc., April's Fools jokes don't have the same impact anymore.

Beside let's remember: April Fool's tends to be "celebrated" by only certain Western cultures. It is cultural in context. People elsewhere simply don't get it unless they are told what Apr. Fool's Day means.

In the places where I've worked, certainly is not tolerated across an organization: ie. never send an April fool's joke to a whole pile of employees that you don't know or don't even bother wasting people's time.

    Save it for comedy shows.

Who does that? That's not a joke.

Two of my friends pretended they were engaged as an April Fool's joke. Of course, it backfired when they did actually get engaged (2 or 3 years later) and no one believed them.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

This was not funny, what kind of friend does this? I think it was mean. You don't play with people's feelings that way, period, but especially not with someone who is a friend.

One that I really hated 2 years ago was the woman president of trek travel posting how she had been noticed by Lance Armstrong's group and she was going to tour de France with them. I was so inspired by her words I fell for it. Finding out it was a farce made me nearly not purchase the Trek 7.7 I had on order. I was so mad. To this day I steer away from trek products because I haven't gotten over the mad part.
Timbuk 2 was advertising a backpack you could put a really big dog into and carry it on you back while biking. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous because I have a dog that size and would not even consider carrying him unless he was sick or dead! I liked the dog though , the one in the April fools day ad. Now if they could make it (him/her) available that would be another story!

I liked the 'news' item a few years ago about Lance getting a carbon fiber collar bone. Brewer and I still joke about this, saying that all riders should get one when they get their racing card.

    Pregnancy...not so funny.

I also hated water fights when I was whitewater rafting. Please! If I want to get wet I can figure out how to accomplish it! I get cold; it doesn't feel good.

After the April Fools incident I spoke with this person again and apparently she did this to her sister too. Her sister got very upset with her for doing it and then she felt really bad for making a joke about it. She told me she felt really bad about it for my and her sisters sake so I think she found out the hard way that jokes like that are not funny. She said she was never going to joke about things like that again. I am glad.
