FS: Bike Friday Pocket Crusoe & New World Tourist

Hey all - I'm sad to say that DH and I are selling our Bike Fridays. We won't be traveling for business like we had expected (and they were to be our transportation) so we feel it's best to let them go.

They are both 8 months old and custom built. Both in excellent condition with less than 100 miles on them. (Probably around 100 for the PC and 50 for the NWT)

I have the original sales order from Bike Friday with all info in it.

Both are custom built. The Pocket Crusoe was built for me. I'm 5'8 and 145-150 (depending on the recent holidays or races!). It was build off the measurements from my 53cm Orbea Road bike. I can send you all the measurements.

The NWT was built for my husband. He's 6', 165-170lbs. This was built against measurements from his Big Dummy. A bit more upright.

Both are in excellent condition - no crashes, no smashes. We call them Ketchup and Mustard and they are documented in the Bike Friday Anyone thread with pictures! We have not even had time to put the custom tag on them.

Each one has all the packing gear (tubes, foam, fork spreader, etc) as well as the Samsonite F-lite cases.

Each has upgraded Schwleb Marathon tires with slime! Each tire is $80!

Cost? We are open to offers but would like to start at $2000 for the PC. And $1900 for the NWT. (NWT will not include thud buster seat post)

Shipping will need to calculated based on where it goes. And it will be insured.

Oh this makes me sad

Unless you really want to sell them, I would consider keeping them. Our work travel hasn't panned out like we had planned when we purchased ours, but we're flying to CA next month with ours, we've taken them to San Diego before, we've taken them lots of places we wouldn't have taken regular bikes (where they could travel safely folded), and we've just ridden them when we wanted comfy steel bikes (and sometimes racks for carrying stuff). I truly understand if you need/want to sell them - but don't discount that life could change again

What?? You just got them! I ride mine just for riding even when I'm not traveling. In fact, I didn't take mine anywhere last year, just rode it like a regular bike.

If you do sell them, someone will get some very nice little bikes!

You can post them for sale on Bike Friday's website and/or discussion forums. People looking for used Fridays often go there first.

Yeah Blueberry and Tulip, we aren't happy about it, but we feel it's the best decision.

Basically, we have 2 X $3000 bikes that are overkill for tooling around town. These bikes cost as much as my road bike so it's not like I can or will safely lock them up while I visit the farmer's market. ;-) I'd rather take the money we get off these and buy a $200 beach cruiser and not worry about it.

And yes, while things can change, I don't feel it's best to have these bikes hanging around waiting for the change. Especially near the beach where things tend to corrode rather quickly. They are in excellent condition now and I'd like to sell them while they are still "new."

Bummed, but it's probably for the best.

So sorry to hear this -- they are gorgeous bikes! Before moving to Belize, we used our Bike Fridays for our utility/errand rides (and me for all recreational rides as it was my only road bike), not just touring/travel, but I do see your point. Those are expensive bikes to have sitting around collecting dust. (Although ours are packed in their suitcases in my mom's garage in NC, just waiting for us to visit!)

I hope you'll have good luck selling them! You might try ebay -- since you can pack them into their cases for shipping, you'll have a much wider audience than here on TE, and since you're a tall woman, your bike is probably more likely to be purchased by a man than a woman, I think. Not too many of them hanging out on TE.
