This was the first real snow we have had out here in CO and none of it hit the mountains...it was a "Front Range" storm. I would agree with you...where is winter?? It has been warm and very dry here until this last storm.

So depressing.
It's warm enough to ride. But, I went for a hike up a hill that I usually snow shoe on. Just on the hope, it might remind me of snow shoeing!
Thinking of going up to northern NH next weekend; maybe there is snow, any snow, so I can x country ski.

Lovely cycling around for 20 km. today. A nice "break" or maybe rest of winter after we had some super cold winter days 2 weeks ago at -30 degrees C.
I'm not missing the cold, snow. It's snowed 6 times since November some heavy dumps and then into ice but each time has evaporated.

Yep. We've got some very confused daffodils outside the building where I work. I'm glad I don't have to turn the heating on very high, but this is weird.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Saving for the next one...
Not sure where in CO you are, but I wouldn't call this the first real snow in Denver. We were at a record (cumulative) snowfall at some point in December. Granted, January was pretty dry and I'll agree that the mountains are definitely lacking.
About 18 inches of snow in my yard, though with the crazy wind and drifting snow, the front yard had about 6 inches and the north side of my house had about 3 feet. I went to go shovel the driveway and got a little distracted with a side project...

IT certainly has been a strange winter, if that's what you want to call it. Flowers are starting to bud in Connecticut and probably manny other states.
Here in Maine, at least the mountains... we have snow although not as much as we typically do. I've been able to xc ski everyday, and because of how little snow we have... I've been trying to get out 4-5 times/week. I'm sure that it won't be here long.
Now for riding, we can certainly ride on the roads, BUT the edges are still very icey so you are taking your life into your own hands unless you are riding with studded tires.
It will be interesting to see what spring looks like

I also haven't seen winter this year.
I'm in Colorado. This morning I did a mtn bike ride and in the afternoon I did a road ride.
Oh, I'm in western Colorado. We've had barely any snow this winter. Most days are 20f in the morning and near 40f for a high. Been riding, running and hiking a lot.

I am in NW Denver and have been in the area for 15 years. So far this has been a pretty light winter as far as winters go not including this last storm (at least to me it has been pretty light). I have only had to shovel one maybe 2xs so far this year compared to many times last year. The roads have been compltely clear of snow and the temps have been plenty warm enough to run in shorts most of Jan and parts of Dec. So I would continue to agree with the OP where is winter?? Then again you are talking to/with a former Northern New Yorker...grew up on Lake Ontario
I spend most of my weekends backcountry skiing and areas that are usually covered in snow are not covered at all or are very thin. And now because of the poor snowpack and conditions this storm has made for bad avy conditions in the Front Range.![]()
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/bou/?n=denver_snowfall We've had more snowfall in the city so far this year than all but maybe 2-3 of the last 15 years, NOT including this storm. My road didn't clear after that pre-Christmas storm for at least 10 days. Perhaps it's just hitting farther east than where you live. But I agree that the mountains are suffering.

I wouldn't mind the warmer temps so much if they meant I could ride, but it has done nothing but rain all winter here! I haven't needed my woodstove to heat the house for three weeks now. Just a little space heater does the trick.
Haven't had a chance to wear my favorite coats this winter. Waaaahh!

We have not seen winter here in MI either. I am totally enjoying it though. I have a feeling Mother Nature will make up for it next winter. We will probably have record snowfalls and ice storms, blizzards like we have never seen LOLetc. She has a way of doing that.

It's not in Minnesota. My nordic skies and snowshoes continue to gather dust. On the plus side, we have not had to roof-rake once this so-called winter.
