    Public work stand

I started a new job this week as a researcher at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. And walking around the campus today, I spied this. It's a bike repair stand for public use. You can hang a bike on it by the seat/seat post, use a pump, or any number of tools attached to a cable. There are allen wrenches, headset wrenches, etc. Just wish there were more modern covered bike racks on campus like the one in the picture. I'm happy to be working in this bike-friendly place (not to mention happy to have a job).

    YAY on the job!! Congrats.

They installed six of those in our town in the last year, so very cool to be able to stop and make an adjustment or top off a low tire.

    Wow, that's pretty cool!

Congrats on the job, Deb! That's great news! What is your area of expertise if I may ask?

    Congrats, Deb.
There's a similar pump/tools in the alley by Main St Cafe in Concord center.
    No work stand, though.
Are you going to be commuting?

    I do atmospheric science.

I can commute 10 miles down the bike path and 2 miles across Cambridge to get here. That's kind of a long haul in the evening in the dark, so tonight I will try putting my bike on a bus rack for part of the trip. I can make the whole trip on the bus if need be, but with infrequent service to my town. I've also tried the commuter rail, which is 6-7 miles from my house. Good to have options, though I expect to bike most of the time.

    Congrats on the job.
Nice stand. We have a "community" locker - for locker users with the lock combo - that has tubes, tires, some tools, and a pump for use. The tubes/tires have been donated and a $2 donation is requested. I know some folks have used the pump a fair bit. Not sure about anything else. But it's always good to know they're there...just in case.
