I will try this!! I have recently become vegan and am trying to make all my own things instead of buying processed versions.
For tomato sauce I usually just puree a can of diced tomatoes and add some random spices. I can't wait to try this! Thanks!![]()

I'm trying to make most of my own foods from scratch now to avoid processed foods. I came up with this pasta sauce - it's an amalgam of a bunch of internet recipes. Best sauce I ever made.
1-2 Tbsp Olive oil
2-3 cloves garlic
3/4 container of cherry tomatoes (the LARGE container from Costco)
Basil to taste
Oregano to taste
Salt to taste
Pinch sugar
Saute garlic in oil for a minute or two in saute pan over medium heat. Add cherry tomatoes, let cook for 10 min. Smoosh tomatoes with potato masher, add basil, oregano, and salt. Let cook down a few more minutes, add pinch of sugar to counteract acidity, and serve. Yum!
I mixed this into some quinoa and it's divine.

I will try this, I don't like to make tomato sauce from canned tomatoes because I don't want to get the chemicals that leach out of the lining of cans. Also we're trying to reduce our trash. At least cans can be recycled (glass can't around here, boo) but I'd rather not have the can in the first place. Of course the tomatoes themselves come in plastic, except during farmer's market months.
