    numb knee

    Hi ladies,
Well I haven't checked in since I had my MRI in October. The MRI showed no tears. Just a little fluid on the knee. The doctor said take advil and resume riding. However, riding and jusy daily activities aggravate it, so I still am not riding. The knee is getting better, but it has been 7 months. The only thing I really feel nowadays is a little bit of numbness in the knee. Especially when I over due it. Has anyone ever experinced this feeling while healing for weeks on end?

    Hey there GGE

I haven't had this experience, but am interested to know when you will be "allowed" to hop back on a bike... are you not able to even use a trainer? Perhaps even just a minute at a time?

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

I am going to hop on my old bike on Sunday, just to see how it goes. Probably for just a half hour. I never had any problems until I got a new bike. I am also going to try orthotics because I think a lot of the problem maybe coming from my foot.

Assuming you had the new bike properly fit...

Where are you, gge?? If you're in CA, you may want to consider a trek to UC Davis for biomechanical testing. They even have a specific fitting for bicycling (see their website here ).

If you're not anywhere near Davis, I'm sure other universities with sports medicine programs have similar services. You can also get these services through the provate sector, but I can tell you form experience that it's cheaper (and just as good) to go through a university.

I went through biomechanical testing almost 3 years ago for running related woes. I highly recommend it; your knees aren't something to mess around with. Seriously. Listen to the woman that waited too long to do something seriously about it, and is still paying the price 3 years later!
