    Fail More... Suck Less

Someone on here posted a link to the above quote. I love it. I didn't even really love the blog post it came from (linked below). I put the quote in my sig at work, and in less than a day was made to remove it - someone didn't understand the quote like I (think I) do.
This is a prime example of what "fail more, suck less" means to me (but I have to explain it, since I assume you all don't spend your weekends at dog agility trials)
When I'm not riding my bike, I'm working with my dogs. I really love dog sports, especially agility. In the lower levels of agility, you are allowed 2 faults and can still qualify, or even win your division. At the higher levels, as this pair is, a single fault and you NQ (non-qualify). This is especially amazing because the first fault came on the first obstacle - once this dog knocks the first bar, the dog/handler have failed. All of the American handlers I have ever seen (including me), would pet our dogs and leave the ring after the second fault (missing the entry to the weave poles). After the first, you NQ, but you still run because you paid for it, after the second you give up and go home.
I actually get a tear in my eye when I see what this handler does - what she does is suck less, a whole lot less. Not only for her, but for her dog - she celebrates the great work her dog is doing, gets the crowd to celebrate with her, and has a flawless and beautiful run with her dog - and they both have a blast. (BTW - this is at the agility World Championship - the woman and her dog won it the previous year - this is huge, the peak of dog agility)

That woman and her dog are champions. What a beautiful sight, and thanks for the explanation. I would get a tear over that, too.

    THAT is wonderful.
"My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved;I have been given much and I have given something in return...Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and an adventure."
