I've been scheming for about a week to play hookey in order to take dd mountain biking. I was really worried how the weather would play out b/c there is only one day this week that I would be able to do that--today.

The weather is supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny! Woot!!!! AND, on top of that, I went to ask my boss for the afternoon off yesterday and here is how the conversation went:

Me: So, ummm, about tomorrow afternoon
Boss: (interrupting) Oh yeah. I meant to tell you about that.
Me: (keeps mount shut)
Boss: We are taking a department field trip tomorrow and I know it's your day to work from home. So if you would like to do something that is "nurturing" and "recharging" for you creatively, please feel free to take tomorrow to do that.
Me: (dumbfounded) Um, okay. Thanks.

I should mention that the last time my department did a "creative field trip" was over 2 years ago.

So now, not only is the weather awesome, but I get PAID to go "nurture" my creativity!!!
