Hey Aussies - anybody else doing the GVBR?

I think there are a few Aussie lurkers and posters on the boards. Is anybody else doing the Great Victorian Bike Ride this year? Me and my BF are doing it for the second year in the row - despite all the glitches brought about by the excessive rider numbers last year we had a great time. We head over to Melbourne on Thursday next week - I can't wait. It looks like we are going to have some hot weather though - forecasts in the 30 Celcius region

Hey kiwi girl - its funny that you should post this because I have just been checking out Aussie rides for when I go home in about 18 months. This sounds like a good one.

I would love to hear all about it when you get back. It might be one I could put on my list of rides for when I return.

Do you have a link for this?

Yeah its annoying that Taupo and the start of GVBR seem to always be the same weekend. I last did Taupo six years ago and would like to do it again some time. That reminds me though - I'll have to post a message before I go wishing ZubZub luck

Hey Kiwi girl. Sorry to say I'm not doing the Great Victorian Bike Ride this year. One bloke from "Lanterne Rouge" (my team) is doing it. Peter Rowe. He is also manufacturing the jerseys for the event. He's an ex professional cyclist & good to talk with. If you're interested, I can ask him if I can forward his email address. He would have some good tips.
PS. If you need tips for hot weather riding, please view my post to Crazycanuck under Nutrition, Hydration & recipies.
Also, if you wanna give me a call whilst over here, let me know that too. All the best, Y.

Third message in a row! What's gotten into this girl?
I just wanted to add that for the "Around the Bay in a Day" (in Victoria) on 16th Oct 05 they had 10,100 cyclists. Can you imagine? Not bad for a relatively lightly populated continent like Australia!

Hey Yasmin - wow that would be a sight to see. Did you get the chance to go?

Glad you enjoyed my sig line. My husband actually came home from work and said hey I found a new signature line for you laughing - he heard it from the girls at his work.

No unfortunately I didn't do the Around the Bay in a Day this year. A couple in our team went (Peter Rowe did the jerseys for this also) & we heard it was awesome. Weather conditions were perfect. I hope to do it next year.
So your sig line came from your husband? He must feel very comfortable in his skin to hack that & not get offended. Good on him. Cheers.
