It just seemed like the right time. Maybe I should've tried several bikes, but I found the one on my first try. I had looked at it last year, but decided not to get a road bike then. Plus the price was really good. I ended with the Novara Carema women's bike. It felt pretty good when I test rode it. It was a good deal and I didn't need anything fancy since I just want to ride for fitness and fun.
I finally was able to take her out today (my bike is female for some reason), and what a sweet ride. I felt like I was going much faster or at least I didn't feel the drag I feel on my hybrid. It may need a few minor adjustments and tweaking to get the fit right. I'm not used to such a light bike. It's such a different feel from my other bike.
I've been riding a Giant hybrid for the past couple years and a mountain bike before that for several years. I like my hybrid, but a road bike is such a difference. I look forward to more rides on my new bike.

I'm jealous as always. I went and looked it up - very nice.
Congrats on the new bike. Enjoy!

Thank you everyone! I will post some pictures when I get the chance to take some pictures. It definitely needs some adjustments or I need to adjust myself to get used to the positioning. My shoulders and neck are rather tense and sore afterwards. I keep reminding myself to relax, but I can't when things hurt. My shoulders and neck hurt midway through the ride. I think I may take to a place here for a professional fitting. But other than that, it's fun to ride.
Oh hey, another Michigander. Congrats on your new bike!
And definitely get a bike fit - I'll be going back for one too since problems tend to crop up only after you've been on the bike for a bit.

Depending on exactly where you are, you might be interested in the Downriver Cycling Club (http://www.lmb.org/dcc/).
I hope you enjoy your new road bike like I do mine. Did a 40 mile ride yesterday with three other DCC women.

I'm not far from the downriver area. I'm in Redford. I used to live in the downriver area. I'd love to join a group, but I'm way too slow right now to keep up with a group. The most miles I've done so far is 25. I bike around Hines Park. I'll definitely have to check out that group one of these days.
