    Trainer dvd

I just started biking last month and am already dreading winter because I won't be able to ride as much. I have a trainer and am wondering if anyone has used dvd's to exercise with it(Spinervals, RealRides, etc). I'm looking for something good for a beginner and to increase speed and distance and that aren't terribly boring. I would appreciate it if anyone has any good suggestions. Thanks!

Do some searching on our forums, and you'll see lots of recommendations. There are more than a few of us who like Spinervals for inside training workouts. They're still boring (IMO only), but they are MUCH better than trying to make myself focus on a movie and train. And they get great results.

ETA: This Search might get you started.

Several people here, including myself, are fans of the Sufferfest. Discussed in this thread: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...ght=sufferfest

    For me, the reasons are:
    • Nobody talks to you -- simple, on screen instructions and sound cues.
    • Good music.
    • No overload of information in the screen (I have a DVD that came with my CycleOps trainer and one by Robbie Ventura, and both give you a ton of information that I find not actionable for me.)
    • Cheap. I have all the videos, play them off a USB drive plugged into my $60 DVD player.

My favorites are Downward Spiral and Angels (in that order).

I like Robbie Ventura's Vision Quest DVDs. Some are hard (Race Day, Climb, Power), but Speed is a good one to start with (along with the another one, but the name escapes me). He's very encouraging and actually takes you out on the road, so it's not dreadfully boring! I personally cannot sit through a Trainright dvd or most Spinnervals (but that's just me and my tendency to get bored easily on the trainer).
