Well....two TE'ers, Pfunk12 and myself, found ourselves on the (virtual) podium for our age group at Saturday's Church Creek 40k Time Trial #2.
Pfunk rocked the course - on a road bike! - to a first place spot in this, her FIRST time trial. 7rider (me) brought home the third spot - playing leap frog with the woman who took the second spot for much of the course. For me, it was especially gratifying after my disappointing showing in June (flat tire).
Here is Pfunk1 jamming on course, me, and my foursome battling it out for the final 10k - no one could pull away, and no one would get dropped - and we got scolded for not being 80' apart by a race official - which was hard to do when much of that broad shoulder was an unrideable rumble strip. That's me in the 3rd spot, gritting my teeth and telling my legs to "shut up!". The woman in the 4th spot started a minute behind me, finished one second behind me and ended up taking second.

Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

Woo hoo! Nice job!
I had been craving a ride in Cambridge a year or so ago... and showed up on the day of the Church Creek TT. Who knew? I was very intimidated by all these very fast riders and it was all I could do to just stay out of their way, but unbenownst to me at the time, a portion of my route overlapped theirs. I rode as far right as I could, and turned on my rear blinky light to make me look even dorkier so they could steer clear. Fortunately after a few miles, I was able to take a left turn, and their course went to the right. My saving grace was the abundance of porta potties in the parking lot, that I did not expect to be there.
Very nice! Way to go.![]()
