    Talking Hello Newbie yet again

    Hi everyone,
I know you may be saying hi to a lot of us newbies daily but I just want to say hi up front so you'll know I did try to introduce myself.

My given name is Cheryl. I have been and always be an exerciser but sometimes the summer makes me a *fairweather* exerciser. We don't have air conditioning so I don't exercise in the house nor do I go to a gym. Therefore, I gave myself the name *fairweather*

So, I got the riding itch in my genes and I'm anxious to get going. I'd like to meet up with women and go riding like people do with their kayaks.

I learned to ride at the age of 12 and have scars to this day on my knees to prove my learning journey.

I'm a big girl now, all of 164 pounds and 44 years later.

I am looking at a specialized ariel. I don't know beans hamburg or doodle about what is a okay I just don't want my ischium to hurt for too long.

From what the man in the bike store told me, the saddles that are more thinner in front, are a better saddle then the ones that to me, the cushy ones aren't really for distance and they don't hold up.

Please let me know your thoughts on the saddle so I choose wisely and not on how soft it feels.

Welcome, Cheryl! I'm afraid I can't help much on the saddle issue -- just got a new one and my ischium hurt :-). Will give it some more time before I start looking at other ones.

I look forward to hearing about your biking adventures.

the guy is right. those squishy saddles are great to go around the block on, but if you plan to really exercise, you're going to want a different saddle.

Welcome! It's going to hurt for your first few rides no matter what saddle and/or chamois!! You'll break everything in after a few rides though.

I'd agree with the others, do not go for the big cushy seat if you plan to ride far and long. There are many saddle threads here you should search and read through.

    Good luck!

    Welcome to riding & TE.

Whatever you get, be sure that you also get padded shorts. Don't try to ride in anything that has a seam up the crotch (ouch!!!).
To train a dog, you must be more interesting than dirt.
