    Surly Bike Test

I couldn't resist riding the Surly Pugsley bike they guy had in the store yesterday. That bike goes over anything with ease without killing your back. I thought "Gravel! This would go over gravel roads like butter!" Then I thought, Errr...going up the hills on that thing would probably kill me, never mind.

The scary part was nagivating through cars on both sides of the street, the truck that went by me at the stop sign (always stop at the signs) and the car behind me that probably wasn't happy being stuck back there. Now I understand the open door issues, the cars behind you, and visibility problems of city cycling.

And to think I get nervous in my small town where cars aren't even allowed to park on the roads.

The Pugsley simply doesn't want to be ridden on pavement in my opinion. It loves dirt/sand/gravel/SNOW/etc. My partner has one since he does a lot of winter endurance races. Someday I'll get one so I can do the Arrowhead 135. It's such a cool bike.
