I wouldn't pay. Most of the information there is provided free in books from Falcon press, that you can get from your local libarary. If you are looking for MTB trails, http://trails.mtbr.com/ has free state by state, country by country listings that are for the most part very extensive and . I've always felt that the way trails.com positions themselves on the web is very deceptive. Linked all over the place, but you have to pay to get the material.

just my two cents as usual.

I do the same. I only use trails.com to figure out the publisher names and who has books or maps for a particular region and then just buy them. There is so much info all over the web and I generally want the entire books worth of info any way.

I was a member for a year, but had already bought all their little books, so already had all the maps and descriptions. But it was cool to be able to print an individual map and take it with, without the whole book.
