Anyone want to buy a TT bike?

2010 Quintana Roo Seduza for sale. XS. Carbon. Comes with Profile Design aero water bottle and bracket.

    Stupid bike.

So I did the 2011 Blue Lake Sprint tri on Saturday. I've raced this course three times now. The first time was a year ago and it was my first OWS tri. The second time was last August and the bike leg was longer than usual (16.1 miles instead of 12).

This year, conditions were perfect, the road was better (less chipseal), I was fitter and lighter...and yet my bike speed was SLOWER on the TT bike compared to the road bike. I'm over it. I've done so much towards trying to get this bike to work for me and frankly, it's not worth it. About 2/3rds of the way through the bike leg I found myself thinking "I can't wait to get off this bike"!! WHAT?? The bike leg is my favorite part of triathlon!! That tells you something.

I do this for fun. Riding this bike is really not fun for me. I think I'm selling it.

The good news is that my run leg was more than 5 minutes faster than last year AND I made my summer goal which was to finish a 5K as part of a sprint tri in under 30 minutes. 29:55 baby!

yay on making your goal of doing the 5K in under 30!!!

boo on hating the way you feel on the tri bike.

I totally understand. I'm SO much faster and feel so much better on my TT bike, but not everyone feels that way. My butt is kicked by many people riding aluminum road bikes while I'm on my carbon TT bike. It's not for everyone, and if you're more comfy/faster on the road bike- why not?? Sell that puppy and buy something fun with the money!!! Maybe another road bike....

I've been reading your saga of that bike on BT. I had hoped you got it dialed in for you....but I guess not. Bummer.
I recently picked up a new/old Cervelo TT bike. I haven't raced it yet, but in training, it certainly seems faster than the road bike for me. I've been watching my average speeds creep up as I get more used to it.

But...congrats on the sub-30 5K. That's awesome. That's a goal of mine for this year, so perhaps I'll find a late December 5K to run and I'll SMOKE it!

Hey, good job on the run!

Bummer about the bike. I've stuck with my road bike for that reason - just wasn't sure I'd like the TT position and riding a road bike fast, is fun.

Oh yeah, the saga on BT. I'm almost afraid to post it for sale over there for fear of reprisal or something!

I'll wait a few days before I officially list it in the classified section (either here or over there) just in case I change my mind.

Thanks all! I cannot believe that I've now done a tri where the run was my best leg. What is the world coming to?

That's such a sweet bike. And tempting, but I've found myself contemplating getting out of the triathlon game a lot lately.

I saw your thread over on BT, too. Sorry you weren't able to get it dialed in.

Oh how I hate to hear that about your bike. I LOVE my QR and if I hadn't gotten one myself, I would so be tempted to take it off your hands. Good news on the run though.....29:55 in a tri is awesome.

DH and I time trial on Tuesday evenings with the tri club and have often wondered if we took our road bikes on the course if we would have the same time as our TT bikes or even faster Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants?

OK, I have one more appointment with my fitter for tomorrow afternoon. If he can't help me, no one can!

    Bike no longer for sale!!

IT WAS THE WHEELS!!! (I posted over on BT as well)

I was at my wits end and ready to toss the bike into the ditch when I decided that before I totally gave up, I'd try one last thing. I didn't expect it to work, but I put my road bike wheels on my tri bike. OMG - what a HUGE difference!!! There is something seriously wrong with my QR stock wheels!

I did a 22 mile loop yesterday with a lot of non-functioning gears (the 9 spd cassette on the 10 spd bike was not playing nice with no adjustment!) and I had a blast. Last night I put a 10 spd cassette on it and I'll take it out for a final shake-down ride this evening and I'm actually looking forward to it!!

I only wish I'd tried it sooner.

Yay! I'm glad you finally solved this one. Time to get your fun on and really enjoy your bike! (Um, also time for new properly functioning wheels. Heh.)
