    Shirt with rear pocket

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I think I've seen runners wearing shirts with a rear pocket. I really, really don't want to get into jerseys -- it's a whole 'nother thing to figure out and spend money on.

I just want a place for ID and cash to be safe. Does anyone know if there are such shirts, or did I imagine them? I plan to swing by the runner's apparel store and a sporting goods store, but anything to shorten my search would be welcome.

Shebeest's plain Strada Jersey has a single zipped pocket on the back. TE carries the Crest Strada, but I have a model that I think is 2009, maybe 2008 that I see pop up regularly on eBay, Nashbar, Sierra Trading Post and other places. Comfortable light fabric, simple design. I've spotted it in pink, green, blue and purple. Sleeveless or short-sleeved. I got mine on STP for some terrific temporary price a couple of months ago---maybe $25?

I was going to post about this Shebeest jersey when I saw the above. This jersey looks like a nice polo, but in wicking material and the zipper pocket is nice and flat. I just wore it for a ride to the farmers' market, where I had my purse in my pannier, so I didn't need to stuff my pockets.
I have one or two wicking tees that have a very teeny zip pocket on the side seam, maybe big enough for a license and a dollar bill. I think they are by Mountain Hardware. Also, look at Athleta running stuff. I am pretty sure their running tops have something like this.

I have a number of running shirts with little pockets - eddie bauer, sugoi, champion C9 (pocket in the sleeve) but my complaint about most running shirts with pockets is that the pockets don't zip. And I've lost keys while running...which really, really sucks. I also like the brooks shorts with the little outer side pockets (they velcro) - I think they're the synergy model.

Or...another option are the little wristbands with a pocket inside them. I kind of like those to wipe my face with.

I wore a cycling jersey on a run once - it wasn't a real duathlon, but an untimed tour with a 5K following. My ID baggie fell out of my pocket within the first 100 m and I had to hold it in my hand for the rest of the run.

I'd go with a SpiBelt or, if you want to carry a phone too, an iFitness belt (chuffier).

I have several Tek Gear shirts and tanks from Kohl's that have pockets that should work. I think they're meant for ipods, but I've used them for Gu. They don't zip, but they're pretty secure.

I've got two zoic Mtb jerseys that have zip large rear pockets. They are in the for sale section under jerseys large. If your interested in them we can work something out for price. Just mentioning this, thought it might help since they would be lower cost.

Oak, the Shebeest jersey has a zippered pocket and nothing would fall out of there. I have a running jersey just like it, without a pocket and I think both of them fit me exactly the same, so I would wear the cycling jersey for running.
I use a Nathan pack with a teeny pouch and I can put my phone, license, and a couple of shot blocks in there. It's kind of bulgy with all that, though.
I mostly run when it's cold out, so I have jacket pockets.

Somebody just gave me two Nike tops with a zipper pocket in the back. They're sleeveless. I don't know if Nike lists them as a cycling jersey or a running tank...or even how long ago my friend purchased them, but you may want to check with Nike. Maybe even check on Ebay if you're trying to save money. I've had some really good luck with cycling jerseys there. I'm sure plenty of different running tops are listed.

I will concur on the Shebeest Strada...I have the sleeveless version in 3 colors...I like it THAT much. The material is soft and stretchy and feels nice against the skin, has the nice zippered pocket in the back, and a 1/4 zip in the front. It's very comfortable.

Another option is the Shebeest Easy-V jersey. I also have this one in 3 colors. The fit is very relaxed (like a normal sleeveless top), there are no elastic/silicone hems, and this one has the single zippered pocket in the back as well. The material is slightly different than that of the Strada, but it's still a nice, comfortable jersey that doesn't fit like a normal snug-fitting jersey.

Here is a link to the Easy-V from the Sierra Trading Post site:
