What a thrill I had today! I was competing in the cycling division of the Missouri Senior Olympic Games in St. Louis and who was also competing but Sister Madonna Buder! The funny thing is that I had a conversation with her and didn't even realize who she was.

After our first time trial, I was talking with DH on the sidelines and standing next to her. I commented on her bright tires and she said it wasn't her bike because she had borrowed it from a friend. She complimented me on my bike and we spoke briefly about the weather. Then I left to go to the starting line of the next time trial. She was number 7 in line and I was number 16 so we never had an opportunity to speak again. When we were lining up for the last time trial, she came running down the road past us. Someone jokingly asked if we were having a duathlon and that's when someone else told us who she was and that she was skipping the last time trial so she could get to the swimming events. She is competing in track and field tomorrow. DH didn't compete today and was at the finish line taking photos. He had been told who she was and got a photo.

What an amazing woman! She certainly doesn't look her age. She was smiling the whole time and looked like she was having the time of her life. We all were as a matter of fact. It was a fun day. By the way, I took gold in 3 events and silver in the 4th.

I tried to attach the photo of her but I'm having trouble getting it to load.
