    VA/MD biking trails?

My BFF and I are going on a biking trip in June and we are trying to decide where where to go. We are looking for trails (not mountain bike trails or on Highway) near some bodies of water such as rivers, lakes or bay. Anybody here done any biking in the Va/Md area that offers these types of trails?

For a comprehensive overview of DC-area trails: http://www.bikewashington.org

The Mount Vernon trail goes along the Potomac from Arlington (Rosslyn) to Mount Vernon. I think it's 18 miles long. In Alexandria, you can access the pedestrian/bike path over the Wilson Bridge to go to National Harbor.

The NCR trail in Maryland is pretty nice. I was doing it every weekend last year when I had a chance. It's 20 miles or so one way up to the PA border.
