Riding the Clouds - News Article Link

I wanted to share this link to an article by Sarah Wolpow, which appeared in the Times Record in Maine. I found this in another bicycle blog here locally and really enjoyed it.

    Loved this especially:

Why put all this effort into biking? Mostly because I like it. I like the tingly, edgy, slightly adventurous feeling of setting out on my bike, an unusual sensation in an ordinary life of work, kids and errands. As author Diane Ackerman says, when she’s on her bike, “The world is breaking someone else’s heart.”

    Perfect!

Great article, and she makes such good points about all the short trips that most people fire up the car for.

However, I wasn't too thrilled with this::

"Pound for pound, a person on a bicycle expends less energy than any creature or machine covering the same distance. Less than a salmon swimming, less than eagle flying, less than a gazelle running, less than a car driving."

I want to expend energy so I can eat lots!
