Talking Ok, who is doing Tinkerbell?

Just in time for a birthday present that hubby couldn't figure out - Run Disney announces a new west coast 1/2 marathon - Women's specific Tinkerbell in late Jan.

I'm super excited. The WDW Half was my first 13.1 this past Jan. Hubby ran Goofy and Q'd for Boston! We are doing DL 1/2 in Sept to get the Coast to Coast medal. Then I'll head back in late Jan for the Tinkerbell.

    Anyone else?

And how do you feel about "Women centered" races? Personally, I don't seek them out. But I do like the vibe MUCH more than co-ed and appreciate the shirt that will actually (gasp!) fit me.

I'm doing it. I've done the Disneyland half marathon twice. This year and last year it sold out before I had the chance to register, so I'm glad they added another one. A new route will be nice, and I really don't need another gigantic castle medal!

The shirt thing is also a plus, although I think I ordered an xs and maybe should have gone small...whatever. One of my biggest issues with the Rock and Roll marathons is that they only offer men's cut shirts. For what they charge, you'd think they'd recognize that their participation is probably quite evenly split between the genders.

Women centered really doesn't mean much to me, but I haven't really done a women's event. Not htat I haven't tried! I've been rejected two years in a row from the Nike Women's marathon lottery.

Jen - there was such an uproad on the rundisney posts that it was "another" women's specific event. Mostly from men, LOL!

I have done a women's only triathlon and really did like it better than the mixed tri's. While it's true that there are "competitive, unfriendly and rude" women, the men seem to be much more obnoxious about it.

And at least I know the shirt will fit me.

So, as a 1st timer at the DL 1/2, should I expect it to be hotter than hell? And is there any course entertainment once off the DL property? That was the thing that I really liked about the WDW course - lots of entertainment!
