The River to River Relay is being held today in southern Illinois. Has anyone ever heard of it? It is a running relay done by teams of 8 runners that starts at the Mississippi River (Wolf Lake) and ends at the Ohio River (Golconda). It is a total of 80 miles and each runner will run 3 legs that are 3-4 miles each. It's quite an event in our area. There are 240 teams this year and there is a huge party at the finish line in Golconda. DH and several friends of mine are running on different teams and a couple of friends of mine and I are riding our bikes along the route with the runners. I've put my Cyclesound speaker on the back of my bike and plan to play some tunes for the runners since earbuds aren't allowed. I thought they might enjoy the distraction while they are running all those hills---yes, the route is very, very hilly but very, very scenic. It should be a fun day despite the crappy weather. I will post pictures later.
