Sending out hugs to Christchurch-based Kiwis

Christchurch was hit with another earthquake today - 6.3 but very shallow and it has caused significant damage. It happened at lunchtime rather than at night, so there were lots of people in town. Already 65 have been confirmed dead. The Cathedral is extensively damaged and another building has completely collapsed. It's been very surreal watching it all unfold on television and over social media today. Here's hoping all you Chch TE'ers are safe and that your families are safe too.

    dear

My dear is sad as he did his undergrad/postgrad in Christchurch and holds a special place for the city. It's an awesome city & hopefully people will continue to visit.

I was watching TV3's coverage via the ABC & could feel the fear of the lady trapped on top of the PGC building then the relief of being rescued.

Thoughts are with those who've lost friends/colleagues in the quake.

My thoughts go out to those in Christchurch and the rest of NZ. The pictures from there are heartbreaking.

Things got even more personal for me today. I already knew the head office of my husband's company, and their distribution centre, were wrecked. However I got a phonecall this morning to tell me that a friend flew down to Christchurch on Monday and no one has heard from her. I have my fingers crossed.

NZKiwigirl, if you're reading this I'm thinking of you and worried about your partner.

My heart goes out to everyone affected. I hope you hear from your friend soon. It's so very tragic!

Keeping them all in my thoughts ... also the tens/hundreds of thousands in Cascavel, Brazil who have been without drinking water since Saturday.

I do not have television service (just DVD player and internet media streaming device for Netflix) so I did not know about this until I saw it mentioned here. The pictures I found on the media websites were just heart-breaking - praying for everyone involved.

Think I'd rather deal with a flood destroyed city than an earthquake shattered city. That's a mess.

The saddest part are the ones that aren't accounted for. Hope the rescuers continue to find more people alive.
    Beth
