Brilliant! Here's hoping that it's a good size and well-planned.

Just found out that the street where I live..the 4 lane wide one-way fast artery, will have a separated bike lane.
And it will be only a few blocks away from the next new place where I'm movin' soon.. a condo that is on a quieter street yet even closer to another bike -pedestrian route. We peeked into the currently locked, common shared bike room at the new place. A mess of tradespeople's junk.
But anyway, life is gettin' abit easier soon.![]()

Well, hope it is well-planned...but I guess it's moving in and living there for awhile. Lookin' forward, even though still haven't gotten around getting a couch, coffee table and won't for awhile. Yea, it's a very stripped down life where I am....it's something like back to when I was a young graduate student. It's nearly laughable, but I have my bike, computer, bed, food, phone, etc. One could dance around in the new more spacious (only abit more) digs later on without bumping into much furniture.
Most ironically there are several recent buyers....from Vancouver, BC who have also bought units in same building. A great deal has occurred in less than a wk. ....I just didn't anticipate decision would be so fast. So it's like riding a bike and choosing the right time to make a lane change safely.
And there were people wanting a 2nd parking spot...even though this place is near a lovely bike-ped. route, transit, etc. But then, it's also true in vancouver where we live (I still consider it home, a 2nd place)...downtown. I met still young, childless residents who drove down the street (1 block, come on.) for their groceries. I honestly feel it's not the carrying grocery weight for some people, but it's feeling humilated to walk around on street with a load of groceries. I keep forgetting some people do think their social status is compromised to walk homeward with a bunch of groceries....even though they are middle-income to high income folks.
I had several real estate agents think that we were nuts to be car-free. And they are selling properties.....near a longish bike path downtown.

I can't imagine preferring to drive short distances. It's so much better for the person, and the environment, and the car, to do shorter journeys by foot or bike where possible. I was always puzzled by people who drive to aerobic classes then drive round and round waiting for the closest possible space to the entrance.
I didnt'word my post very clearly, what I meant is that I hope the bike lane is well-planned to make your journeys safe and fast. It sounds like a great place to live![]()
