Thumbs up More time off the bike

Well it looks like im going to be off my bike for awhile longer. I've done my PT work, for a strained knee, and then was given permission to get back on the bike and my knee got sore again. So now I am seeing another doctor who says there is an 80% chance that the MRI wont show anything. He said he could go in surgically and see if he finds something and then fix it while he is in there. If there is anything to fix. I'm confused as to what to do. Anyhow I do look forward to getting back on my bike. I know, however, it may be awhile, but I will be back on.

Get another opinion. Any doctor who wants to cut right away makes me nervous.

I agree with mickchick - a second opinion is important.

I hope you continue to recover swiftly and that you're back on your bike without pain.

Unfortunetly that was my second opinion. So I guess I need to go for a third. My instincts are telling me to back off any type of excercise, let it heal for a good long time and then get back on. Then if the problem still exists, than surgery may be the next option. Thankyou for your replies. They are very much appreciated.

Did you PT give you good exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting your knee? You might check out Jennifer Rhodes book, Peak Performance Fitness. She's a PT and that book helped me a lot when I was recovering from a muscle imbalance (helped me more than the PT who was treating me for the problem). I'm glad you're seeking a 3rd opinion---I've found that some (not all) male docs blow off females, especially those of us who are athletic. Maybe they are like that w/male athletes, too? In any case, have you thought about seeing an osteopath instead of a orthopedist? Definitely get another opinion. You're smart to listen to your body. I hope you are back on your bike soon.

Thankyou, I started to look into it this morning and osteopathic sounds interesting. There are many osteopath, DO's in my area. Now the trick will be trying to figure out which one to go to.
