This recipe (inspired by Little House on the Prairie books) might be fun for those of you who have access to fresh, clean snow.

As a child of around 7 yrs. old, I went with my school class to a maple sugar /maple syrup operation out of town. Yes, we had snow based maple 'taffy.

    Thx for the memories!

We've done Snow Cones with a little Toroni syrup.

I remember making "snow custard" at school. I was all excited to make this at home with my mom, until my aunt went on a rampage, telling me the snow had radiation in it. Nothing like ruining the fun for a 6 year old. Part of the Communist Plot of the late fifties, I guess.

I have relatives like that, only they were really communists, so the plot was from some other group of evil plotting bad guys. I'm not sure who was out to get us when I was little, but more recently it has been oil companies and of course Haliburton.

I seem to remember doing something like this, though who knows what we used for syrup then. My taste "memory" can almost bring it back though
