Since it's a new month, I thought I would start a new running thread.
I ran a 2 mile recovery run after my 10 miles on Sunday. This is my taper week before my HM and my tendonitis has really flared up along with a blister I'm trying to heal before Saturday. No more running before the HM. Resting and icing my feet are more important at this point.

Good luck, bike chick! Tendonitis and blisters, yuck, but at least they're enforcing a taper week...
I had my first run of the season in a flurry this morning-- 3 miles. Perfect.
Can't wait to hear about the HM. Tapers always come at JUST the right time!
I ran 6 on the treadmill last night. Boring, but we had crazy weather in the ATL last night, so it was too scary to run outside!
I started the month with a run. We are awaiting the storm that's hit the rest of the east coast, but for now it's just cloudy and a bit misty, but it's 50 degrees. The roads are kind of wet, so I decided not to ride.
3 miles, mostly running, but slowly. I stopped wearing my Garmin, because I just want to enjoy being outside for now. Also, I'm trying to work on my form. Now, I have to try and work on stretching or something to avoid the various pains and such I always have after I run.

I ran barely 3 (2.9878 or something like that) this morning, in the above weather (50 degrees - balmy! - and kinda humid.) I was overdressed and that was a little uncomfortable. Other than that it was o.k... 10:11 min. miles because I felt lazy and it's a hill all the way back home.
I wore my new "vegas vest." That's what DH calls it. It is flashy!
I can do five more miles.
Went on a 4 mile run today after work. It was pretty warm out...50 with a fair amount of wind which made it feel cooler. Glad I wore tights. Have a great day everyone![]()
By the time I finished doing other things today it was kind of dark to run (especially given that it was also pouring rain) so I did something I haven't done in a while: I went to the Y and used the tiny track there for about 35 minutes. Barefoot, of course. There were a bunch of teenagers (mostly boys, mostly practicing boxing etc. rather than running) up there...surprised none of them made any smart-aleck comments about my lack of shoes. It wasn't a bad run, actually--I was fairly relaxed given how awkward I felt walking into the track area and seeing how crowded it was. Maybe the fact that I was listening to some good music helped (I don't normally run with music, but if running indoors I need it to help with the boredom). I would have done some pushups and pullups (there's a bar on one wall by the track) but didn't really want to put my upper-body wimpiness on display for the kids who were up there; I had hoped there wouldn't be anyone else there but apparently that doesn't happen between 5 and 6 pm.

I, uh.... shoveled snow a couple of days in a row.My dog really needs a walk/run, though, so I might have to suck it up and take her out. Today was more wet snow on top of frozen stuff, no fun for anything, but have to shovel the driveway or it turns into an ice skating rink.
Feeling pretty good, but I'm moving my husband down to LA for a few months so I am not sure what I'll get in for exercise. December is usually a weird month, just hoping to stay somewhat on track so it's not such a shock when I go back to 6 days a week of training in January.
First recorded mile under 8 minutes: 7:52 pace! It was only for one out of 5 miles, but STILL!!!!! WOOOT!
Did a 4 mile jog this a.m. - leaving the house at 6:15. Pitch black at the start. Wore a headlight, as my route took me down some dark cul-de-sacs in my neighborhood. It was weird to have the light on my hat at my forehead. I kept thinking "Wow....what a bright full moon we have. Wait. Wasn't the full moon last week?" Then I realized that the light of the "full moon" was really the headlight! D'oh!!
I could see I was definitely visible to my early car-commuting neighbors (wore my high-vis day-glow and reflective Carhartt work vest, too), as most gave me PLENTY of room. But the idiots who treat narrow residential streets as their personal race track are STILL going to be idiots who speed down residential streets regardless to what is going on around them and who is there and what they are wearing or flashing at them.![]()

6 slow and easy last night.
50K is in 8 days!
Did my first run for Dec last night - on the treadmill. 4 miles closer to my 100 mile goal (by Jan 8th). I'm at 19/100 so far.
Discovered two things:
1) running on the treadmill with a DVD playing is less boring than running with headphones because I get visual stimulation as well
2) our treadmill is calibrated incorrectly! I've been doing so much running outside that I've gotten really good at telling what RPE gives me what overall pace. As soon as I got on the treadmill last night, it was obviously off. It said it was moving at a 5.0 mph pace, but it FELT much closer to a 5.8 or so. I think the belt moves too fast (the speed of it does shift periodically during a run). Ah well - it is still better than running on busy country roads in the dark anyway. I won't die from a 'too fast' treadmill.
You know...now that I type this, I think I might try a couple more outside runs and then an indoor run on a treadmill at my gym. We'll see if my RPE is as accurate as I think it is (assuming the gym treadmills are correct)!![]()
My new non-farm blog: Finding Freedom
Ran a nice fast 3.12 out and back from the house with a couple of big hills. I felt like pushing and it paid off. I'm trying to punch through the top of my comfort level. When I go up the hills I think "little devil feet" and for some reason, it makes me pick up my feet. I visualize a little goat. 28 mins. total which is something like 9:12 mms so I am happy - consistent improvement. Tomorrow is my long run. I think we'll do the same 10 we did last weekend.
I can do five more miles.
