I thought I'd start a thread of upcoming events, since Jolt and I were talking today about two trail runs happening in New England that could be fun for other New Englanders to join in on! So here is my contribution:
The Lil Rhody Runaround 8 mile trail run, in beautiful Burlingame State Park. Nice small run and they have great food and cake afterwards! Make a day of it!
I can do five more miles.

I am running the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon (half) with a friend who is running her first half. Then, the next weekend I am running the Silver Comet Half Marathon with my mom! Go mom! On thanksgiving I am running the Atlanta half, which I do every year
After that, I have Disney Marathon
Columbus marathon, Oct. 17.
After that, a break for a while. Barring something unforeseen I'll be doing the Daytona 5K again, it's just fun to run on the track (plus I usually have a shot at an AG podium there). Maybe I'll finally break 25 minutes.![]()

My next big event: http://www.ironhorsehalfmarathon.com/
It's in a beautiful little town. I've never run there, but it's one place I go when I want to ride some hills... I'm planning on riding the route maybe this weekend.
The ironhorse looks fun!
I can do five more miles.
Here's the flyer for the Larch Hill XC race which I did last year and highly recommend: http://www.commonschool.org/pdfs/Rac...yer%202010.pdf
It's mostly on grass, with hay bales to jump over and lots of mud (at least last year it was muddy). There's food after. There is also a costume contest since it's Halloween weekend...last year the winner was a guy dressed as Lt. Dangle from Reno 911--it was hilarious!!

I'm thinking I'll have to run as a villager, with a pitchfork, dress, and my VFFs. Anyone else want to run this? Dirt cheap and lots of fun...

I can do five more miles.
7Rider and I are doing the Celtic Solstice 5 miler on December 18 with another friend; she's never run beyond 5k and I've never raced beyond 4 miles. Should be an interesting 8 weeks!
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Not really "upcoming" - but is anyone interested in running the Utah Valley marathon/half-marathon next...June, I think?
I'm thinking of making the half my return-to-running goal.
(I don't even think I've seen anyone on here from Utah, but I thought I'd throw it out there! Oh, and it starts in the mountains somewhere and ends in Provo)
Now I am signed up for my first 50K on December 11th--the Tashka 50K in Tuscaloosa!
My next running race is on New Year's Day. It's a tradition in our house. DH and I have run this race every year we've been together. The weather is always terrible. And the last mile or so along Lake Michigan is terribly brutal. The wind that comes off the lake creates a wall. Not to mention the ice that covers the roads. Good times. And a great way to start the year.
Oh, we also do a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. DD and DS join us. It's a 5k. Last year it took us almost an hour to finish. But DD is getting pretty speedy now that she's 5 yo. I have a feeling we'll be in the 40's this year.
