Getting stuck in my new frogs...

    To disable ads, please log-in.

So why am I the ONLY person that seems to have trouble getting out of Speedplay Frogs? Just switching from Eggbeaters because I've had them fail one too many times. It's like I will just get stuck occasionally and then it gets worse but maybe because I am panicking. I keep thinking something is wrong with my cleat, but maybe I am just using too lateral a motion, like I need for the eggbeaters, and I think the Frogs require a more out and *up* motion. However, I rode a few hundred miles before I started having trouble. I'm supposed to do a metric tomorrow morning with friends and seriously thinking about switching back!

All of my Frog friends can't understand it.

    Any ideas?

Ritamarie, you have put me to shame, I didn't understand much about your post!

Me with a frog as my avatar too but I have now learned what speedplay frogs and eggbeaters are.

As for my feet, I shall stick to my faithful and safe (for me), DMR V12 Pedals.

Thanks for making me laugh tonight.

Good luck and enjoy the metric tomorrow.

I don't ever experience that. I don't even have to pull up - just kick my heel to the side and they're out.

    Sorry!

I would bet there is something wrong with your cleat.

You say you rode a few hundred miles before you started having trouble.

If you've already checked everything yourself, the next step is probably to take the pedals and cleats into the LBS and ask them for help. Frogs are notorious for releasing easily (for some folks, too easily). I can clip on my empty shoe, and just from gravity it will unclip itself when I let go of it.

If a pedal system starts misbehaving after a few hundred miles, chances are something has gone out of whack with the pedal or the cleat.

Clock, That's too funny. I just re-read it and if you didn't know what frogs or eggbeaters are, it would be pretty confusing!

Knotted, that's what I am thinking too. I did several 60 milers before I started having trouble. The first day I rode in them I unclipped twice by accident. Both times I was riding along talking to a friend, gesturing with my right hand while my left was on the handlebars. (I talk a lot with my hands!) After I unclipped by accident twice while doing this, my friend said, "You have to stop talking with your feet!"

So yeah, they were pretty easy to get out of in the beginning, so this is odd. I put an old pair of Candy SLs on for tomorrow's ride. Not sure what I want to do in the long run.

    Thanks for the input!
